Forensic Medicine Group — Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences
Educational scholarship is a systematic, purposeful, and evidence-based process in which an educational problem, need, or opportunity is identified; an appropriate solution or intervention is designed and implemented; and its outcomes are systematically documented and evaluated. The results of this process are intended to improve education and, where appropriate, to be presented to the academic community.
Under this policy, educational scholarship activities are defined based on the identification of a specific educational problem, need, or opportunity; establishment of objectives; use of a systematic approach; inclusion of an element of innovation or improvement; evaluation of outcomes; documentation; and the potential for transferring and sharing experience.
The group's educational priorities are also identified and prioritized based on resources such as the results of educational evaluations, feedback from students and residents, examination results, reports from faculty members, accreditation results, professional needs, community and health-system needs, and scientific and technological developments.
Faculty members may submit their innovative educational ideas and proposals to the group. These ideas are reviewed based on their relevance to education, significance of the problem, innovation, feasibility, potential for improvement, and need for support.
Depending on the requirements of each activity, the group may provide or facilitate academic, executive, research, technological, and financial support, as well as support for the dissemination and presentation of results.
In conducting educational scholarship activities, the intellectual and academic rights of participants are taken into consideration. Ownership of ideas, the role of the originator, determination of authorship based on the actual level of contribution, participation in project-related decision-making, confidentiality of ideas, and rights related to educational products are among the matters addressed in the policy.
The group's educational scholarship activities are monitored and evaluated annually based on indicators including the following:
Number of submitted ideas
Implemented projects
Participating faculty members
Interdisciplinary collaborations
Support secured
Educational products developed
Scientific articles and presentations
Extent to which results are used in the group's educational program
